Dunkin' Development Update in Erie, PA

Dunkin' Next Gen Store With Cold Brew On Tap Coming Next to Harborcreek

DALRT, Inc. awaits critical equipment to complete construction on Harborcreek Township Dunkin’ location and has shifted the timelines of the three other Erie locations in the works.

Dunkin' franchisee, DALRT, Inc. announces their newest Dunkin’ Next Gen restaurant will be located at 4203 Buffalo Rd. in Harborcreek Township and is expected to open in the Spring of 2023, followed closely by the completion of the West 26th St. Dunkin’ location in Millcreek Township.

“Working with Matthew Baldwin of Baldwin Brothers Inc. on the Buffalo Rd. space has been a great experience and we are excited to bring Dunkin’ to Harborcreek this coming Spring,” shared Leeanne Miller-Barone, CFO and Development Director for DALRT, Inc.

More Erie Dunkin’s in the Works

DALRT, Inc. adapted their development plans in Erie in response to significant supply chain delays on equipment and parts needed to complete the slate of new Dunkin’ Next Gen restaurants.

“We now expect the Harborcreek Township and West 26th St. Dunkin Next Gen restaurant locations to be completed next in Spring 2023,” shares Miller-Barone, “Followed by the West 38th St. location and eventually the Girard location.

West 26th St. Dunkin’

The franchisee anticipates an early 2023 opening of the Dunkin’ Next Gen Restaurant planned for West 26th St. in Millcreek Township. Renovation construction was started in May of 2022 but awaits critical equipment to proceed. DALRT, Inc. purchased the property which was previously a First National Bank location.

West 38th St. Dunkin’

668 West 38th St., Erie, PA is the next expected new Dunkin’ location and construction is expected to begin later in 2023 or early 2024.

Girard Dunkin’ Update

In July, 2022 DALRT, Inc. began demolition in anticipation of building a future Next Gen Dunkin’ restaurant at 90101 West Ridge Road in Girard, PA.  This project is now expected to begin once the other planned locations have opened. The Girard property was the former location of Bill and Arlene Bailey’s Heartland Inn and Cafe which closed in 2021.

Prior to demolishing the building in preparation for the new Dunkin’, DALRT, Inc. donated its use to the local fire department who had planned to use the former building for two days of training, including setting small, contained fires to practice several types of drills and rescues. The complete burn was to occur after these exercises.  However, even with every precaution in place and several companies on site, control of the fire was lost within the first hour. All local fire departments were called in but they were never able to contain the fire so the building burned to the ground within a matter of a couple hours.

Fire Chief Rick Meyer of Dobler commented that if this building had caught fire with occupants inside, especially if it had occurred in the night, it is probable that most would not have made it out of the building in time.

Dunkin’ Next Gen Restaurant Features

These new Next Gen restaurants will offer not only a vibrant, fresh look but will include new features such as a contactless drive-thru, complimentary Wi-Fi, and an innovative tap system. The tap system provides consistently cold sips, such as iced coffee, iced tea, Cold Brew, and Nitro-Infused Cold Brew-- which is a Next Gen exclusive.

DALRT, Inc., is a family-owned Dunkin’ Franchisee network that currently operates nine Dunkin’ locations throughout Western Pennsylvania. Read
